Sorting out my skin

Hello Blog people!

This is my first blog post, so I hope I do this right.

Lets Crack on!
My name is Vicky McPherson, I am 25 years old and suffer from adult hormonal acne. Recently I got engaged to the best man in the whole wide world, Joe! With a looming engagement party and my 26th birthday, it is time that I sorted out what the heck is going on with my skin!

Some background info! Throughout high school I had pretty good skin. The occasional pimple, large pores and black head, but nothing worth a mention. When I was 19, I was diagnosed with Endometriosis (a condition when the lining of the uterus that is shread during the period is found on the outside of the uterus, surrounding organs; and can cause infertility). After my diagnosis, I was put on a medication that stopped all my periods, that is when my trouble started. I went on to the pill, and later had a mirena inserted to help with heavy flow periods and pain. I stopped the pill.

While that all worked for the Endo, I started to get the acne. At first I thought it was food, so I stopped eating sugars and started on the water. That didn’t help, I went to the G.P. he prescribed me antibiotics. That didn’t work, so off to the dermatologist I went. He prescribed me a medication similar to Roaccutane. That worked, but dried out my skin, and made me a crazy bitch. I had already crazy PMS due to the hormones.

I stopped the medication and let my skin do what my skin did. I literally gave up.

With upcoming events, I decided its finally time to take a stand. I am now on Cerazette mini pill, which was recommended to me due to the increased risk of headaches (I would get them anyway). Cerazette is a progestogen-only pill. But it is shit, and I am over the negatives of it. Sore breasts, acne, I am hoping to change to Yaz, which is recommended to help clear acne.

I’ve been researching things to help. The thing that stood out the most was diet! a-stop drinking sugar drinks such as fizzy and energy drinks. B- stop eating sweet foods, and foods high in salt and trans fats. C-start taking vitamins such as evening primrose oil, and Hair, Skin and Nails. D- DRINK WATER!!! Also, Green Tea!

Water helps detox the body. Milk and dairy products also can lead to break outs, so avoid those!

My skin care routine will be as follows… St. Ives apricot scrub (to take off excess dirt and oils and any dry/dead skin), then Benzac AV 5% wash, tone and moisturize. Once or twice a week I will be using a mud mask just to help the process.

well, thats enough ramblings. The photo’s are of my skin now as it is just after a breakout, my skin isn’t as bad as it normally is in these photos. I have a problem with squeezing and picking at scabs (ITS DISGUSTING AND IT SHOULDN’T BE DONE SO DON’T! I will try not to as well!).

Wish me luck!

I haven't taken off my make up from yesterday, or done my hair... please ignore :)
